CHAPTER 13
Maestri hunts for cow
It was late at night. Maestri was hunting in the dark with
a torch in his hands. One villager saw him. “Brother, why are you hunting in
the dark?”
“Kaveri has not returned
home. I am hunting for her.” Said Maestri and continued up the hill.
Maestri climbed up the hill
shouting Kaveri, Kaveri.
Kaveri heard his voice and
shouted ‘amba, amba”
Maestri was very happy to
hear the voice of Kaveri. He moves towards the sound. There was a cave there.
“What are you doing in this cave, my dear?”
Maestri entered the cave
shining his torch. Kaveri was sitting down coolly. A sadhu was sitting in
meditation pose with closed eyes nearby. Maestri was shocked to see him. He
folded his hands. He sat down for a while. But the sadhu did not open his eyes.
Then Maestri went away with Kaveri.

“It is already mid night. Where was Kaveri?”
“She was sitting in the cave.
One sadhu was meditating there.”
Mother was shocked. “Is it?
Did you talk to him?”
“No. He was meditating. I
waited till mid night to see if he opened his eyes. But he did not and so I
returned.”
“Don’t tell anyone in the
village about him. They might disturb him.”
“As you say mother. I will
not tell anyone. But I will take milk for him in the morning. He will drink
when he opens his eyes.”
“That will be good.”
