CHAPTER 18
Mohini tells her father about first touch
Mohini’s father was getting ready to go to the city. He
looked at his daughter and said, “I am going to the city to see a boy for you.
I am taking your horoscope with me.”
Mohini was shocked. “Daddy,
I have told you so many times that one astrologer had told me that the man who
touches me first will be my husband.”
“Let me get my hands on that
astrologer. I will peel his skin. He has fooled you into believing such stupid
things. You must be very careful in selecting a man for your husband. We must
see his standard and his character.” Said Varada angrily.
Mohini was shocked. “But one
man has already touched me four days ago. I will marry no man other than him.”
Varada was shocked. “What
did you say? Has he touched you?”
Mohini said coolly and
romantically, “Even the second touch is over. He has told me that he will give
me the final touch after marrying me.”
Varada was shocked. “Who is
he? Where does he live? I will allow him to marry you only if he is of my
standard.”
“He is working in Brahmam’s
cloth shop.”
“Ok. I will go and see him.
I will check his background. If everything is ok, then you can marry him.”
Mohini was happy. She went
inside her room and phoned to Yedu. “I have told dad about you. He is coming to
your shop to see you today.”
Yedu was very happy. “You
have told him about me, isn’t it? Rest of it, my owner will tell. I will put
leave and come to you for the third touch.”
Mohini was very happy. “No
problem for third touch. But for the final touch, you will have to marry me.”

Mohini’s father Varada
entered Brahmam’s shop. Yedu was missing. Brahmam was doing both the jobs of
owner and worker.
“Come in sir. What do you
want?”
“I have not come to your
shop to purchase cloth.”
Brahmam was surprised. “Sir
this is cloth shop. You will not get anything other than cloth here.”
“I know that. I have come to
find a husband for my daughter.”
Brahmam was shocked and
excited. “Sit down sir. I am still
unmarried.”
Varada looked at Brahmam
from top to bottom. “Are you the worker in this shop?”
“I am the owner of this
shop. Brahmam. My worker has taken leave today. He phoned to tell me that he
was not going to come today.”
“But I have come to see him.
My daughter said that he gave her first touch. She wants to marry no other man.
I have come to find out about his background.”
“He is just an ordinary
servant. He lives on the payment I am giving. He has neither father nor mother.
He lives alone.”
Varada was happy to hear
this. “Everything is plus. I am happy that he is single. What is his payment?”
“I pay him 100 rupees per
day. 3,000 per month.”
“No problem. I want someone
who will take whatever I give him.”
Suddenly one customer
entered the shop. Brahmam turned to the customer.
Seeing the customer, Varada
said, “I will leave now. I will come on another day to see the worker.”
As Varada left, Brahmam
thought, “I must find out the background of this old man.”
*****************************************
Meanwhile Mohini and Yedu
were enjoying third touch in Mohini’s house.
