29. Yedu agrees for ‘no dowry’

CHAPTER 29
Yedu agrees for ‘no dowry’

Varada reached home and saw a pair of slippers outside. He was confused. “These are not my slippers. They must belong to that Yedu or Brahmam. I wonder what he is doing with Mohini before marriage.”

Suddenly he heard some loud sound from inside the house. Varada was shocked. He knocked on the door.

Mohini said in a sing-song voice, “Don’t disturb. I am in heaven.”

Varada was shocked. He shouted, “You are not yet married. What was that sound? Who is with you? Touchman or the balanceman?”

Yedu and Mohini came out of the bedroom half naked. Varada peeped through the window. He was shocked.  They were correcting their clothes. Varada got very angry. He banged on the door.  Mohini opened the door.

Varada entered the house. “Don’t take his touch again. I have fixed you for Brahmam for just 1 and a half. He will marry you and touch you during first night.”

Yedu became serious. “If he is ready for one and a half, I am ready for just one.”

Varada was excited to hear this. He thought, “This fellow is helping me save one lakh. He is the best.”
He said happily, “Ok. You can marry my daughter on the next important date. And you can give her the final touch.”

Varada phoned to Brahmam. “Yedu is ready for one lakh. He will marry Mohini.”

Brahmam was shocked. “Uncle, I am ready for just fifty thousand.”

Varada was shocked. He turned to yedu. “Brahmam is ready for just fifty thousand. What do you say?”

“Uncle, you need not give me a single rupee. You just get your daughter married to me.”

Varada was very happy. “What a nice thing to say. You can touch her anywhere you like. I will give a mangalasutra and a grand party.”
