CHAPTER 42
CI encourages Maestri to finish off rowdies
All
villagers had gathered at the burial spot. Madesha’s body was buried. Everybody
was silent. Some were crying.
CI Ashok put his hand on
Maestri’s back. “You must be brave.”
Maestri was sad and angry.
“Sir, put them all in jail. They must be hanged. Then only my brother will lie
in peace and my anger will die down.”
“Maestri, you are very
innocent. You don’t know anything about modern world.”
“Sir, I am just a milkman. I
grew up amoung the cows. I just go to the city and sell milk.”
“For that Chakri, your
brother is the 21st victim.”
Maestri was shocked. “Why is
the police and court silent in spite of that?”
“Police and court is there.
Many policemen have fallen for the money these rowedies give. But not all
policemen are like that. But rowdies are becoming leaders and ministers. Chakri
has the backing of such rowdie ministers. Chakri kills and escapes for lack of
witness. He is able to go to jail when he wishes and come out when he wishes
too. Today he has killed Madesha, tomorrow he will kill another innocent man.”
Maestri got very angry. “Sir,
police and court may let off that Chakri. But I will not. I will search all over the city for him. I
will not leave him even if he hides in hell. I will not allow him to kill
another man like Madesha.”
Ashok took Maestri a bit
away. “I will support you. We must finish him off. I will keep an eye on him
and give you information about his hideout. You must finish hom off. But you
must come out of the mess without any witness.”
Maestri was surprised. He
nodded and put his hand on CI’s hand. “Yes sir. Today Madesha died. But we must
not allow another Madesha to die tomorrow. We must finish off all those demons.
I will take the sword in these hands which were just milking cows till today. I
will finish them all.”
Ashok was very happy. “Good.
I will back you. I will make you do the job I was doing when I was the
encounter specialist.”

Maestri was having lunch in his house when his cell rang.
It was CI Ashok.
Ashok was standing outside
the police station talking on the phone. “Time has come to bring peace to
Madesha’s soul. Chakri is having a party in a village with those who killed
Madesha. They are getting ready to kill another farmer in connection with a
land deal.”
Maestri was shocked. “I will
play with their blood. Before they kill that farmer, I will finish off all of
them.”
“I know your strength. I
have also called up that area inspector so that you will be safe.”
“Ok sir. I will leave
immediately.”
He entered house and put on
pant shirt.
Sakamma was observing
Maestri getting dressed up to go out. “I have put food in the plate for you.
Eat before you go.”
“No mother. I have some
important work to do. When I finish my work and return, you can give me non-veg
dinner.”
Sakamma looked at her son in
surprise. Maestri fixed the sword inside his shirt at the back and took his
bike.
